Brushstrokes and Beverages

In an effort to jump start some creative energy, I purchased a pair of tickets to a very cool painting event hosted by a company called Brushstrokes and Beverages.  It is marketed as an event where anyone of any skill level can paint there very own masterpiece! My MOH (Maid of honor) and I finally cashed in our tickets the other night an boy was it fun!

It was held in one of the side rooms of a quaint little restraunt in downtown Long Beach called Utopia.  They had tabletop easles set up for all of us with nice blank canvases propped up on them.

The painting of choice for this lesson was abstract flowers.  They supply the canvas, paints, easle, apron and brushes.  At the end of the "lesson" you get to take home your art! They had a designated waiter for our section and we had the option of ordering drinks or anything off the menu while we painted.

They walked us through each step of the process and encouraged us to make our work our own.

I, being the somewhat unadventurous person that I am at times, chose to keep my painting in the color scheme the sample painting had.

They did, however, encourage us to add in any other colors that we wanted to our heart's content. My MOH  decided to add some lovely shades of orange into her piece, which i think really adds so much warmth to her art!

We had an absolute blast and it was a really nice night out to leave the world behind for a couple of hours. And our art wasn't half bad if I do say so myself!

We can't wait to try it again and bring home another beautiful art piece!
