First Official House Get Together

About the time that The Boyfriend got the keys to his new house, my brother got official word that his request for an out of state transfer had been granted.  They had purchased a lovely home near his new job location and would be moving out of state in just a few short weeks.  Though I was/am very sad that my brother, sister in law and nieces will no longer be just a quick car ride away, I'm also super excited for their new adventures and all the new opportunities this move will bring for them.

Since The Boyfriend had just gotten his keys, and the yard has so many kid friendly features, we decided a family get together was in order.  We invited them and The Boyfriend's parents over.  Since the house is virtually empty, we ordered pizza!  The girl's really enjoyed the tire swing and kept asking everyone to push them.

They loved the tree house and spent a bunch of time up there eating/sneaking snacks from the adorable little lunch bags from The Boyfriend's Mom, which she filled with yummy treats and fun stuff!

I had forgotten, when planning this get together, that this was also my brother's 6th wedding anniversary!  After checking to make sure they didn't have better plans, we decided to go ahead and proceed with the get together anyways.  Since they would now be "slumming it" with us (Hahaha) for their anniversary, we decided to get them a cake and a card.  We grabbed a yummy looking Oreo cake and a pouch of blue sparkly frosting.  I did my best to write "Happy Anniversary" on it.....

.....However, it was a SUPER hot day, and by the time we were ready to eat it, it looked like this.....

Well.....at least it tasted good!

As a going away present, I made both of my nieces scrapbooks filled with pictures of me with each of them from the time they were born, to the present.  They LOVED them!!!

I also gave Eva a scrapbook of her photos from her birthday Sea World trip.

One of my nieces found a tape measure, somewhere in the tools scattered around the house, and started measuring everything.  Eva asked The Boyfriend if he could measure her to see how tall she was.  He decided to do her one better and he "christened" his house with an improvised growth chart!

It was a super awesome night of fun and family!

A couple days later, my niece's came over to The Boyfriend's house again.  I had offered to take them for the day so my sister in law could get some distraction free packing in.  We had only minor projects to do on the house that day, so we figured they could enjoy the backyard again.  My sister in law sent me these pictures when they arrived.

They had fallen asleep on the car ride over while "reading" their scrapbooks! Awwww!!

The Boyfriend's Mom LOVES kids and she came over and played and sang with the girls for a bit while we pulled the baseboards off the walls, pulled out all the nails etc.

Eva came in at one point and asked The Boyfriend if he could please hammer a little quieter so they could come inside and slide around on the floors. Who knew a big empty house could be so entertaining? He explained that it wasn't really something that could be done quietly, but promised he was almost done and we could play.

When we finished a little later, Audrey, the youngest, asked The Boyfriend if he could put her hair into ponytails.

He gave it his very best shot!!

In the end, Auntie Janelle had to make the ponytails happen.

To wrap up the day, I drove them down the block to the 31 flavors.  Eva picked a green and purple sherbet of some kind.  Audrey picked Spider Man sherbet (red and blue colored) I think she liked it, what do you think??

I miss the whole family already, but I am so grateful for the wonderful time we had living so close for this long! I look forward to taking trips out to visit with them soon!
